How it works

4 steps from first call to first day. A dedicated sourcing and screening team works your search every business day, which is why shortlists arrive faster.

  1. 1Day 1

    Intake

A 30-minute call with the hiring manager. We confirm duties, minimum qualifications, pay range, location and any civil service or screening rules.

  2. 2Days 2 to 5

    Search and screen

Our dedicated sourcing and screening team searches, contacts and interviews candidates. Every candidate is US-based and work-authorized.

  3. 3Target: day 5

    Shortlist

You get 3 to 5 screened candidates with notes on fit, pay expectations and availability. Business days, from a complete intake.

  4. 4Your schedule

    Interview and start

You interview and choose. We run background checks to your requirements, then handle the offer or the contract start and check in after.

Timelines are targets, not promises. Senior or highly specialized roles take longer. Executive searches follow a staged schedule we agree with you before we start.

Why public agencies work with Konnex

Public hiring is slow for good reasons: merit rules, approvals, budgets. We work inside those rules and take the sourcing load off your team.

  • US-based talent, every time. No exceptions for agency placements.
  • Built for public-sector rules. Minimum qualifications, civil service steps and background checks are part of intake, not an afterthought.
  • Clear pricing. A written quote in your format before anything starts.
  • Focused, not huge. A founder-led firm, so you deal with the people doing the work.

US-based. Every placement.

Every professional we place with a public agency lives in the US and is authorized to work here. Work for your agency happens in the US, and your data stays in the US.

How to buy

Most agencies can start with a simple quote. Here are the 3 routes we support.

Most common

Small purchase or informal quote

Under your micro-purchase or quote threshold, request a written quote and issue a PO. Federal grant rules set the micro-purchase level at $15,000 from Oct 1, 2025.

Existing vehicles

Subcontract under a cooperative contract

Where a cooperative contract holder can use subcontractors, we can support placements under their award. We do not hold our own cooperative contract today.

Larger needs

Common questions

Plain answers for hiring managers, HR and procurement. Still unsure? Ask us directly.

What does SLED mean?

SLED stands for state, local and education government. It covers state agencies, counties, cities, townships, special districts, K-12 school districts and public colleges and universities. Read our plain-language guide to SLED.

Are the people you place US-based?

Yes. Every professional we place with a public agency lives in the US and is authorized to work here. Work for your agency is performed in the US, and agency data stays in the US.

How do we buy from you without a formal RFP?

If the purchase falls under your small-purchase or informal quote threshold, you can request a written quote from us and issue a PO. Thresholds vary by state and entity. See how to buy.

Do you hold a cooperative contract?

Not today. Where a cooperative contract holder is allowed to use subcontractors, we can support placements under their award. We will tell you plainly which routes apply to your agency.

How fast can you send candidates?

Our target is a shortlist of 3 to 5 screened candidates within 5 business days of a complete intake call. Senior and specialized roles can take longer.

How is pricing set?

Permanent placements carry a one-time fee based on first-year salary. Contract staff are billed hourly: pay rate plus a markup for payroll taxes, insurance, screening and our margin. You get the price in writing before work starts.

Do you run background checks?

Yes, to your requirements. We use FCRA-compliant checks through a US screening provider and coordinate with your agency on fingerprinting or other checks your rules require.

What NAICS codes do you work under?

561311 Employment Placement Agencies, 561312 Executive Search Services, 561320 Temporary Help Services, 541612 Human Resources Consulting Services and 541611 Administrative Management and General Management Consulting Services.
